because of lazy, misogynistic research practices in the testing of ADHD medications, it has only been discovered recently that hormone imbalances during your menstrual period essentially cancel out the effect of your medication.

(if you want to know about the aforementioned lazy research practices, the scientists doing the testing for adderall and vyvanse only used male mice and AMAB humans to test them on because the hormonal cycles of female/AFAB test subjects “affected test results, causing data to be inconsistent”.)

so yeah, if you feel horrible and sad and like you can’t get going while you’re on your period, that’s why :)

My testing has also shown that I need about half as much adderall in my follicular phase as I do in my luteal phase; I’m actually prescribed a pill strength where I take two pills a day for half the month, because the effect is that strong. I can’t promise it will be the same for you, but I can promise that you should start tracking

While I wholly support media piracy and absolutely think it is something you should do, there is one essential step you should take before heading to your preferred torrenting site:

CHECK IF YOUR LOCAL PUBLIC LIBRARY HAS IT.

Not only is it safe, legal, and far less likely to fill your computer with malware, but you are actively supporting an organization whose entire ethos is free access to information.

You don’t necessarily even need to go in-person! Many libraries have their entire catalogue available to browse online, some will deliver right to your door, and most libraries have digital catalogues as well through sites like Libby.

And lots of modern public libraries are SO MUCH MORE than just an archive of books. Safe injection sites, makerspaces, tool libraries, aquaponic gardens, recording studios, and so much more (or less depending on the library system) are available FOR FREE through your local public library.

Libraries are the socialist ideal in praxis in a lot of ways. Most are unionized, they’re a public service that ACTS LIKE IT, and they’re almost completely free to use.

TLDR: Piracy’s good, libraries are better

Books are expensive, I get it, but please don’t pirate them. Unless you’re Steven King, James Patterson or Danielle Steele, most authors do not make enough money to actually live on without having a day job. Even those that do, pirating books will keep more of their books from being published. Maggie Stiefvater actually proved it with The Raven King.

Any modern book - and I mean *any book* - you want to read, you can get from your local library. Even if that library is a single room crammed in the basement of the municipal building, if they are a public library, they can get things they don’t have from other, larger libraries. Librarians as a whole will do anything they can to get you information or books you want. Especially if its something someone doesn’t want you to read.

There is also the Open Library that has a lot of ebooks and audio books. Newer stuff is harder to get from them, but a lot of older books are free to borrow.
